AMD FireStream

The AMD FireStream is a stream processor developed by ATI Technologies, designed to utilize the stream processing/GPGPU (General Purpose Graphics Processing Units) concept for heavy floating-point computations to target various industries, such as the High Performance Computing (HPC), scientific, and financial sectors. The line was previously branded as both ATI FireStream and AMD Stream Processor[1]. The AMD FireStream can also be used as a floating-point co-processor for offloading CPU calculations, which is part of the Torrenza initiative.
